#NCBD June 2019

New comics! I have more this month to share with you!

First up is Paper Girls. I really need to gather up my issues and give them a reread!

Next is The Umbrella Academy! I am so hyped to sit down and read this. I’m also really looking forward to season 2 of the show. Loved season 1!

And finally a new issue of The Beauty. I’m so behind in this series. I’ve gotten a bad habit and getting new issues and not reading them which leaves me a pile of unread comics. But I’m hoping to organise them and binge read them when I have a week to myself.

Asos Haul feat Miss Patisserie/Lime Crime

I wanted to get some of the new range of Miss Patisserie’s bath range and just happened to come across it on Asos! I also had just gotten a 20 per cent discount code so it was the perfect chance to use it!

I will add that I got a shock when I got the box as there was blood on it. Ah. Thankfully it wasn’t on anything in the box.

I’m so excited for this range! I’ve loved the stuff I’ve gotten from this brand before and they’re vegan and cruelty free!

Hoping to use some of this when I have a week to myself soon!

I also picked up this Lime Crime lipgloss that was on sale! I’ve been wanting to try them for a while! It’s in the shade Juicy Cherry. I’m so in love and it’ll be perfect for summer.

Summerathon 2019

I recently came across this readathon over on instagram! It’s a summer themed readathon taking place from the 21st of June (summer solstice) to the 27th of June!

I’m so excited to take part!

Here are the challenges and my tbr!

Beachy Read

Sunrise colours on the cover

Book with roadtrip/travelling or vacation

Book set in Summer

Food on cover

Drink favourite summer drink while reading

I love cute drinks during summer so I’m hoping to make something during this too!

And that’s my tbr plus a couple of extra books I’m hoping to read for summerathon! Let me know if you plan on taking part in this readathon!

kickstarter

Mouse Ita Bag

I backed this on kickstarter last year and at one point I thought it would never be sent out. I’ve been on kickstarter for quite a while, I’ve backed projects before and after this one, never have I had the issues that I’ve had. Everything normally arrives on time or at least I’ve gotten updates if anything went wrong. Since November/December she went quiet. No updates, no emails, nothing. What had happened was an issue with shipping, she was charged more than she expected and needed to save funds in order to send the bags to us. That would have been fine if she had just kept us updated. I was the 15th backer and I shared the project online, I now wish I hadn’t to be honest. I’m happy it finally arrived though. It arrived in Ireland about a week ago and finally arrived to me today.

I’m looking forward to using it and hopefully might one day get to wear it in Disneyland Paris. I’m tempted to put together a pastel Disneybound.

Loungefly started selling a similar bag to this and if you are thinking about getting one I’ve heard it’s good quality. I don’t normally do this but considering how long this took to arrive plus the silence from the artist I don’t mind showing an alternative.

books

Book Mail

I got some new manga and I’m hoping to read them for otakuathon! (Will have a post up for that!)

UPDATE: They were sent out late and didn’t get here in time for the readathon, however I managed to put a tbr together for it and have a post up! I’m hoping to keep these for The Reading Rush which takes place in July!

I got two more volumes of Kiss me at the Stroke of Midnight

I’ve heard good things about this series, it’s compared to Studio Ghibli so I picked up the first volume! It arrived three days after the rest of the books which delayed this post till today.

I loved Princess Jellyfish and Tokyo Tarareba Girls so when I heard the author was doing a biography like manga I knew I had to get it!

New volumes of My Hero Academia and Food Wars!

TKMaxx Haul

I was in TK Maxx recently and found this Too Faced bronzer. It was only 10 euro!

I got this super cute Betsey Johnson bag! It’s the perfect size for my camera so will be handy to bring with me when I travel a bit more this summer!

I found these super cute birthday cake flavour sryup and foam! Hoping to make cute drinks with them!

Otakuathon TBR

This is the second round of otakuathon and I’m so excited to take part! Any excuse to read manga and watch anime is great news to me!

It’s hosted by Alexalovesbooks and Superspacechick.

It’s taking place between the 7th and 10th of June and it’s mostly about reading and/or watching as much as you want!

Sadly the manga order I made for this was dispatched late and wasn’t able to be here in time. Thankfully I had some backups! Will have to keep the late book mail for the Reading Rush in July!

Here are the challenges!

Most recently acquired

I recently picked up the first three volumes of Sweetness and Lightning from Forbidden Planet while I was in Dublin. Super excited to start this series!

Catch up on a series you’re behind on

I’ve gotten some new volumes of My Hero Academia but hadn’t got a chance to read them! Hoping to catch up!

Adaptation of a manga/anime you loved

I’m currently watching the Fruits Basket reboot and I’m loving it so far! I’m going to have two episodes saved for this!

Revisit an old favourite

I’ve been buying the new eternal editions of Sailor Moon and I have been wanting to reread the series so this is perfect!

Start a new series

I recently picked up Little Witch Academia while I was in Kilkenny. It looks super cute and I can’t wait to read it!

I’ve wanted to read more shojo manga and picked up the series Kiss me at the stroke of midnight!

Recommended to you

I’ve seen so many people recommend Snow White with the Red Hair and it’s finally been printed in English! I only have the first volume as it just came out. If anyone has more recommendations please let me know!

Read another series by an author you’ve read before

I am hoping to reread some Naruto but for this challenge I plan on reading his sequel series Boruto!

Genre of choice

Of course I have to pick my favourite genre, shojo! I’ll be reading the first volume of Your lie in April. I loved the anime!

And that’s my tbr! I’ll be posting updates on my twitter @heather_ogorman and on instagram @heather_o_gorman I’m hoping to read more than this over the weekend if I can!

Kilkenny Castle Meet Up

I went to Kilkenny over the weekend to celebrate International Lolita Day with my comm. We went to Kilkenny Castle and had afternoon tea later. I stayed the weekend too with some of the girls from the comm in a hostel for one night and a hotel for the other. I had a great time and it was fantastic seeing everyone again. We had some issues with people who took our photos without even asking us. Literally had a guy push his way into our group photo. It’s not okay. Ask us first. I have no issue with street photography or people who show interest in the clothes and ask. But when you harass us I’m not going to be nice. Thankfully this didn’t put too much of a dampener on our weekend.

The people working in Kilkenny Castle and the hotel we had our afternoon tea were all so lovely. They really made up for the rude people (a lot of them tourists), I took some photos but the day was a bit rainy sadly. I still had so much fun and we even got a group shot thanks to Morgan.

And below it’s me!

I also only noticed the creep taking our photos behind the tree on the left when a friend pointed it out!

The afternoon tea was so good!

The day after the meet some of us went around the city and into the local museums. We had a lot of fun before we got our bus home!
